Liverpool have beaten Barcelona 4-0 in the second leg of their semi-final clash to make it through to the Champions League final.
The Merseyside team went into the match 3-0 down on aggregate and were facing an uphill battle at Anfield to turn the semi-final around.
But a goal from Divock Origi and two more from Georginio Wijnaldum saw the home side pull level by the 56th minute against Lionel Messi’s side.
Origi then took advantage of a lull in the Spanish team’s defence in the 79th minute to score his second which proved to be the winner as they went through 4-3 overall, putting behind them the heavy defeat they suffered at the Nou Camp last week.
Liverpool will play whoever comes out on top in Wednesday night’s semi-final between Ajax and Tottenham. The Dutch side are 1-0 ahead after the first leg in London.
Liverpool did not have top goalscorers Mohammed Salah or Roberto Firmino in their side on Tuesday due to injury but their teammates Origi and Wijnaldum made up for the pair’s absence.
At the break, Liverpool were 1-0 up, and it was the introduction of Wijnaldum that helped take them to victory.
