The Guild Election results of Uganda Christian University, Mbale Campus have been nullified.

The elections were held on November 2, at the Mbale Campus. Yonasani Bululu was announced the winner after defeating his rival Jacqueline Ajego with only five votes. Bululu polled 301 votes, Jacqueline Ajego 296 votes while Ben Francis Kidongo got 204 votes.

However, Ajego and Kidongo jointly petitioned the Guild Electoral Commission citing irregularities during the elections. They argued that some students were missing in the register and were denied to vote.

The petition was then forwarded to the Electoral Appeals Board committee for hearing.

On Tuesday, the Guild’s Returning Officer, Martha Apio who also doubles as the outgoing speaker stated that the Electoral Appeals Board committee nullified Bululu’s election.

According to Apio, the elections will be held on Friday.

However, Bululu is unhappy with the decision claiming that the electoral Appeals board committee did not follow the right procedure.

Bululu says that he will consult his lawyer and block the Friday elections.
