Tables turn as man withdraws case against Rema’s new hubby

KAMPALA — A man withdraws a petition to the Allied Health Professional Council (AHPC) against Rema’s new hubby, Hamza Sebunya.After the turning of the tables, therefore, Rema is having her dreams to marry a great man for her future.

Mr. Sharif Sentongo Nambaale, through lawyers of Nalukoola, Kakeeto Advocates had on September 11 petitioned the Allied Health Professional Council (AHPC), suggesting that Sebunya has broken the professional and ethical code of conduct by contracting a marriage with his patient, Ms. Namakula.

However, in a letter dated September, to the registrar of AHPC, Mr. Nambaale said he was no longer interested in the matter.

“Our client has unequivocally and expressly instructed us to notify your good office as we hereby do that, he has lost interest in the matter,” the letter read in parts.

Ms. Jean Caroline Awor, the legal and public relations officer at AHPC, confirmed that they had received both letters.

Ms. Awor says records at AHPC indicate that Mr. Hamza Sebunya is a medical laboratory technician and not a doctor.

In other words, She (Rema) is going to introduce Sebunya to her parents on November 14.

For instance, in the earlier petition, Mr. Nambaale had claimed that Sebunya, who is said to have been Namakula’s gynecologist at Mulago hospital, took advantage of her and started a relationship.

“As a fervent believer in the rule of law, our client has drawn our attention to the fact that he has learned through the press and social media. In addition, during the subsistence of EDDIE KENZO and MS REMA’s relationship, the person who was a doctor to REMA, a one DR. SEBUNYA has contracted marriage with her which our client believes constitutes professional and ethical misconduct,” the letter dated September 11 reads in part.

“We have since advised our client that your body has powers and mandate to inquire into and investigate the matter. Upon kind instructions of our client, we do hereby invite thy disciplinary committee to invoke its powers. This is under Section 38 (1)(2) and (4) of the Allied Health Professional Act Cap. 268 of the laws of Uganda. Our client is available in case you and him for purposes of illuminations and availing more facts to enable you to investigate the matter. Take obligatory action which shall culminate into the most appropriate panacea as by law envisaged,” the letter adds.

However, the Allied Health Professionals Council is a body corporate established under the Allied Health Professionals Act Cap. 268 to regulate, supervise and control the training and practice of the Allied Health Professionals in Uganda. Above all, the Council was established to protect the public by maintaining up-to-date registers of registered and licensed professionals. In addition, private health units and recognized training institutions which are published in the Uganda gazette every year.
