Following a successful spell at Vipers SC, Mamelodi Sundowns and Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca are now fighting for Fahad Bayo.
According to reports, Denis Onyango’s Mamelodi Sundowns have an upper hand of securing Fahad Bayo’s services.
According to Vipers FC spokesperson Abdu Wasike, club’s president Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa has rejected Casablanca’s bid.
Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns have tabled a bigger figure for the 22-year-old Fahad Bayo.
“Wydad Casablanca came with a good offer last season but the president rejected it as he bought Bayo to play for him in the Champions League,” Abdu Wasike was quoted by KickOff.com.
“Vipers are back in continental football for the Champions League, but he said when Mamelodi comes with a big offer, he will let Bayo go.”
“All clubs want to make money, so if Mamelodi comes back with a big offer and puts things on the table, they will discuss and see a way forward,” he added.
Fahad Bayo a hot cake
The physically lanky striker managed to score 12 goals and made seven assists in 22 games for Vipers before the coronavirus in March.
The Uganda Cranes talisman has emerged as one of East Africa’s most sought-after talents since making his professional debut as a 16-year old with Proline FC.
Fahad Bayo played 25 games and scored 16 goals in the 2015–16 season of the second biggest league in Uganda, the Uganda Big League to guide Proline to the top flight.
After a stint in Zambia with Buildcon, he was lured back to his native country with Vipers SC.
At Vipers, he once again been one of the leading performers in the league as he guided the club to the 2019/2020 StarTimes Uganda Premier League title.
He also scored on his Cranes debut under head coach Johnny McKinstry in November 2019 against Malawi.
