Maroons FC striker Steven Mukwala has insisted that he is not interested in returning to his parent club Vipers SC.
The lethal striker joined Maroons FC at the beginning of this season from Vipers SC on one-year-deal due to lack of playing time at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende.
Since then, he has been fantastic in the box by scoring 13 league goals this season and leads the race for the Golden Boot.
“I am not in a hurry to return to Vipers,” Steven Mukwala was quoted saying by Daily Monitor.
“I haven’t thought about Vipers yet, even bigger deals await if I keep my scoring form.”
“Maroons want me to sign but I am not in a hurry. My target is to keep scoring and keep the team in the league.”
“I don’t feel any pressure being the top scorer with a team fighting relegation,” he added.
Who is Steven Mukwala?
Steven Mukwala signed for Vipers in 2017 in a three-year deal from Masaza Cup outfit Ssingo.
However, at first, he was in the shadows of Dan Sserunkuma and to make matters worse, the competition became stiffer when the Venoms added Fahad Bayo and Shaban Muhammad to their squad.
This prompted Mukwala to look for more playing time elsewhere which resulted into his joining to Maroons.
“There was a lot of pressure and competition but I feel I deserved a chance to play,” Mukwala noted.
After joining the Luzira based club, he came off the bench to score in the 2-0 win over Tooro United.
“It is so far the best goal of my career. It took all the pressure off my shoulders. I celebrated by cooking beef for dinner,” he concluded.
Before scoring against Tooro, he had last scored on February 22, 2019, in Vipers’ 3-0 win over Bright Stars.
He is known for his speed, agility, and ability to beat defenders.
