Roy Keane – De Gea and Maguire should be axed

Former Manchester United skipper Roy Keane claims that the club’s goalkeeper David De Gea and Captain Harry Maguire should be sacked from the club.

This came after a dismal performance from the two during their one-all stalemate with Tottenham Hotspur on Friday night.

Tottenham’s Steven Bergwijn ran past Maguire and fired through De Gea to score for Jose Mourinho’s side a goal which was avoidable according to Roy Keane.

“It’s a massive defensive error, three people involved and De Gea can do much better,” Roy Keane said at half time before adding.

“I’m shocked by that goal. I’ve watched a lot of football and to give away that goal I’m fuming.”

“I’m staggered at Maguire and I’m sick to death of this goalkeeper.”

“I would be fighting him at half-time, I would be swinging punches at that guy. I am flabbergasted.”

“Maguire and De Gea, I wouldn’t even let them on the bus after the match. Get a taxi back to Manchester.”

“These are established international players. Do your job. We’re not on about winning league, just getting into the top four! Shocking. I am disgusted.”

“Maguire and De Gea should hang their heads in shame. De Gea is the most overrated goalkeeper I’ve seen in a long, long time,” he added.

David De Gea under scrutiny

David De Gea’s performance during the 2019/2020 season has been below par following consecutive errors which resulted into goals.

The Red Devils have been reliant on De Gea since he signed with them in 2011 but he has been prone to mistakes this season with three errors leading to goals prior to Friday’s game.

The 29-year-old custodian signed a new contract to stay with the club until 2023 last September.

David De Gea may be replaced by Dean Henderson at United

However, his position next season is under threat from a young goalkeeper Dean Henderson who is on loan in Sheffield United.

The 23-year-old custodian has been outstanding on loan at Sheffield United for the past two seasons.

Manchester United may decide to leave David De Gea go and make Dean Henderson their first choice custodian.
