Newly elected Bukoto Central Richard Sebamala ready to take his next step to out-seat former Vice President Edward Ssekandi.
In 2019, Richard Sebamala rested his tools from his job as Iganga Municipality principal executive engineer with an aim of grabbing by then Vice President Edward Ssekandi’s position from him as a parliamentary representative and also a Vice President.
During the recently concluded elections, he won with a majority number of votes in Bukoto Central which left him as the victor over dormant Vice President Edward Ssekandi hence his new position.
However, Sebamala still has not accomplished his dream as he aims at becoming Uganda’s next Vice President now that competitor and predecessor Edward Ssekandi is out of the race.
Sebalama says he is ready for victory as every single step has felt like victory for him right from the time he picked his nomination form.
“The day I went for nomination was like voting day. More than 1,000 people were at the grounds just to be sure that I had been nominated,” he recollected the events of the day to us.
Prior to this, Sebalama and his team had faced many challenges as he could not help but say, “We had been jailed before. We had been blackmailed…very many things had happened to us during consultations. Finally, there we were, nominated,” stated the legislator.

Once he takes on power, Sebalama promises to fight for equality as he believes Ssekandi’s reign has a lot of injustices attached to it, as well as better Education service, health services and above all, the well being of the people.
