Police warn of planned national wide Protests on Tuesday

Uganda Police Force has warned the public from participating in nationwide violent demonstrations and riots Which it says have been organized by opposition politicians.

“We have received information from credible sources that a section of opposition politicians are planning nationwide violent demonstrations and riots beginning with Kampala Metropolitan area tomorrow(Tuesday),” Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy spokesperson said.

According to Owoyesigyire, the organizers of the planned protests are mobilizing the public using social media. In addition, and leaflets with wordings like, “Time is Now'”, “Join Nationwide protests to fight for our victory”, and “M7 Tajja Kulayira”.

“We have deployed strategically to counter these illegal acts and we are continuing with vigilance,” Owoyesigyire said.

He has also warned the organisers of the protests to desist from participating in any unlawful activities.

“The police will not hesitate to arrest and charge in courts of law anyone, who will be found participating in these illegal activities,” Owoyesigyire said.
