Police arrests two Egyptians for illegal stay in Uganda

Two Egyptians have been put behind bars in Gulu District on charges of illegal stay in Uganda and forgery of identity cards.

According to the ASP Okema Patrick Jimmy, the public relations officer, the two were arrested in an intelligence led operation early morning today and arrested them with the help of the neighboring community.

“After arrest, we checked and searched for their room and found that they were in possession of expired Egyptian Visa to Uganda since January 2019,” Okema noted.

Police identified are arrested as Shamed Abdel Razek, 23 years and Abdel Rahman Sultan, 27 years old.

“The two are being detained at CPS- Gulu and their files are being prepared for submission to DPP Gulu for legal guidance, ” Okema said.

Police based on this incident and urged members of the public to support security agencies with information about such suspicious characters.
