BREAKING – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has confirmed that all schools and institutions will officially open on the 15th of October 2020. However, this will only be for the candidate classes, therefore, other classes will wait until 2021.
The president has okay with the reopening of teaching and learning for candidate classes and university finalists.
This was during the presidential address on the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have decided to reopen schools for candidate classes for S.4, S.6, finalists in tertiary institutions and finalists in universities on October 15, 2020,” President Museveni said.
The president also said that long-distance learning through radios provided by the government could continue.
“The government plan for long-distance learning through the provision of the 9 million radios sets is on course, the money is available and those radios will be provided,” he said
All education institutions across the country were closed in March as measures to control the spread of COVID-19, a move that affected over 15 million learners.
President Museveni also allowed for the reopening of the airport, places of worship, and open-air sports activities.
