After overcoming a nagging injury, Vipers SC striker Muhammad Shaban said that his main intention is to lead his club to the Caf Champions League group stages.

Shaban was signed by Vipers at the beginning of the 2019/2020 season after a failed stint at Raja Casablanca.

But he is yet to feature for them due to nagging injury which saw him sidelined for full season.

Muhammad Shaban targets

Now that he overcame the injury which saw him sidelined for the whole of the 2019/2020 season, he has now set targets ahead of the 2020/2021 season.

“I want the Top Scorer’s gong of the Uganda Premier League (UPL).”

“I also want to help my team qualify for the group stages of the Caf Champions League,” Shaban was quoted by Vipers SC official website.

“The fans should forget the old me. There is a different Shaban coming. A better one who will play with more purpose and drive.”

“I have kept them waiting because of injury but I am going entertain them. I promise to do my best for both club and country if I am recalled again.”

“To be honest, playing last season was always going to be a bonus for me. The injury needed to heal properly.”

“Good thing is that the storm is almost over and I am already focused on a restart for the 2020/21 season.”

Shaban to replace Bayo

The lanky striker is expected to lead Vipers SC striking force following Fahad Bayo’s move to Israeli side FC Ashdod.

However, Shaban said that he would admire to form a striking partnership with Fahad Bayo but his dream is now impossible.

“Every player has his own impact on the team. Bayo was in good form and my return will also add impetus upfront.”

“Our partnership could be the best thing to ever happen at Kitende as long as we cooperate and work as a team,” he noted.

Vipers SC will represent Uganda in Caf Champions League after scooping the 2019/2020 Uganda Premier League title.

Their ultimate target is to reach the group stage of Africa’s most prestigious clubs competition.
