MP Mubarak Munyagwa of Kawempe South, Pamella Lamunu of the Anti-Corruption Court said yesterday canceled an application seeking to dismiss his trial in the court.
The chairperson of COSASE ( Mubarak Munyagwa ) believed to have charges dismissed on the fact complainant in the case had lost interest.
Director of Public Prosecutions had no right to cancel such offenses against him when the complainant, Francis Kakumba, lost interest.
However, criminal offenses were against the state but not individual, Lamunu added.
However, due to the charge sheet, Munyagwa faces three cases of corruption.
Prosecution states that in the month of December 2014 at Hawks Investment Limited, he was a Mayor of Kawempe Division. Munyagwa acquired for the gratification of Shs100m from Kakumba in exchange for him to exert improper influence over Kawempe Division. Urban Council to nominate Muyanja Isaac for appointment as a member of Kampala City Land Board representing Kawempe Division.
In count two which is also corruption, Munyagwa is accused of receiving the gratification of $ 20000 (Shs 73million). From Kakumba in exchange for him to exert improper influence over Kawempe Division Urban Council to nominate Isaac Muyanja.
