Maroons FC has suspended all activities until April 20th. As Coronavirus pandemic continues to hit the sports activities across the world, Maroons FC becomes the latest club to suspend all activities.

The StarTimes Uganda Premier League side has followed the state orders of banning public gatherings as one of the moves to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

According to the letter signed by the club’s patron David Okring, Maroons FC is expected to resume work on April 20th depending on the situation.

“Following H.E President of Uganda’s directives on measures to be taken against the coronavirus disease [Covid-19] and in conformity to the safety of our staff, fans and our partners especially during the period of this pandemic, the Commissioner General of Prisons, has directed that all activities, involving all prison teams and clubs be suspended until April 20th or till such time the situation will be evaluated and communicated accordingly,” the letter from the club reads.

The StarTimes Uganda Premier League remains suspended as one way of fighting the spread of the pandemic which has claimed many lives across the world.

Maroons FC also went on to urge the public to adhere to health tips on how to remain safe and also take personal initiatives so that they remain healthy.

“During this period, we encourage all our sports teams to strictly follow the Ministry of Health guidelines to do the following; clean your hands regularly with soap and sanitizer.”

“Avoid close contact, especially with people who are speculated to be sick, always cover your mouth while sneezing or coughing and clean and disinfect regularly touched surfaces.”

“Lastly, during this period, maintain regular personal fitness while at home,” the letter further added.

he league is remaining with five games to the completion, Vipers SC is still on top of the log with 54 points, four ahead of rivals KCCA FC who are on 50 points.
