Kyambogo University on Sunday exposed the architectural designs of its new multi-million East End football via their official Twitter handle.
The schematic designs indicate a well-improved sports facility with clear levels and re-regreened to give an ample environment for any staged sports.
In the financial year 2020/2021 Kyambogo University approved several capital projects worth Shs 6.7bn which includes the construction of the fisher road, gates and the graduation square – east end football pitch among others.
The on-going works involve the levelling of the pitch to attain standard gradients of the football pitch that allows for proper drainage.
Further, the pitch will contain a permeable layer on which approved grass will be planted.
On completion, there will also be an athlete truck of 8 lanes with drainage systems and a pavilion with facilities like gym services along Fisher Road.
The pitch has for a long time been in a very poor state of retaining water whenever it rains, a situation which has been affecting the University’s mega-events like the annual graduation ceremonies, freshers’ ball, football matches and more.
The investment seems bigger and many people are wondering how the best Teachers training University is managing to push over 4 big projects in a very short period.
The completion of this pitch will hold Kyambogo as a University with the best modern football pitch in our motherland Uganda.
Reactions from the followers revealed joy about the new developments and many people commended the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Eli Katunguka for the visionary works.
“Thank you, Eli Katunguka, for the visionary leadership at Kyambogo. Indeed, you are true to your words, we are grateful,” tweeted Vian Roberts.
“I can’t wait to witness this development as career further higher,” said Akong Peter.
“We a have architects and architectural students under the department of lands, faculty of engineering, please involve them in these planning processes, I guess they could offer better work, otherwise kudos!” suggested Fx.
