Kyambogo Guild elections cancelled, police arrest candidates

Kyambogo elections which were scheduled to take place today 6 March are reportedly cancelled under unknown circumstances.

According to one of the polling agents, Police officers came and told them to silently and swiftly vacate the polling station without causing any suspicions.

However , the reason as to why the elections won’ t happen was not given.

A source from the students electoral body told this website that some of the guild aspirants are not on the ballot papers, which the electoral commission took long to notice.

The news has angered students into a strike hence police firing bullets and teargas to disperse them.

Cyclone Times has learnt that some guild candidates are in police detentions under preventive arrest.
