Wakiso – Officers at Kirinya Police station Bweyogerere,Wakiso District allegedly deserted the police station after a man suspected to be having coronavirus ran to the station seeking for help.

The incident happened yesterday at around 4pm .

The man who had severe cough and flue allegedly said that his girlfriend recently returned from Dubai and he needed help to access the medical facility to test and confirm whether he had contracted the deadly virus – COVID-19.

The officers on duty fled the station for their lives in fear to contract the disease from the flustrated covid-like victim.

Fortunately, he was later helped by a police patrol driver who braved and rushed him to Naguru Hospital for medical attention.

By the time of Cyclone Times learnt about this incident, there was no police officer at the station.

“Yesterday, I had gone to buy grocery near Homesdallen – Kirinya junction. That is where the suspect was and they had come to pick him and were busy dressing up in the protective gears to take him away.” a source which preferred to remain anonymous told this website. We are yet to establish whether this was a different case or not.

Uganda is currently holding at 44 COVID-19 confirmed cases as more tests are being carried out. However, it seems that there is a lot more to do.

From this case, one can conclude that many people accessed the country with the virus and escaped the testing chambers.

This is likely to cause more harm to innocent people who may not have learnt about the movements of such individuals hence spreading the virus more.

The Ministry of Health recommends self isolation incase you learn about the symptoms of the virus and contacting them for immediate medical attention.
