Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) president Tugume Wycliffe alias Ykee Benda has opened up on how he feels about the house arrest of former Presidential candidate Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu and his wife Barbie Kyagulanyi Itungo at their home in Magere. Ykee Benda says that it’s inhuman to deny Bobi Wine and his family access to food yet they didn’t do anything wrong…
This follows after Bobi Wine himself confirmed that police put him under house arrest for over a week through his official social media walls…
“Day six under house arrest and we’re still stuck with an 18month old baby. Her dad had brought her to visit her auntie (Barbie) just before we were raided and besieged. Police blocked him from picking her up. We have completely run out of food and milk. Meanwhile, they ain’t allowing leave or come into our home” – Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.
“Why would the police arrest these people in the house and still deny them access to food.?? Why really? This is very bad and they should be released immediately. I pray for you my people, may the almighty God protect you inside there. This too will come to an end one day,” Ykee Benda posted.
However, Uganda Police rubbished reports that Uganda Police denied Hon. Kyagulanyi and his wife access to food… Police spokesperson Fred Enanga also revealed that Kyagulanyi refused to meet with his lawyersinstead he offered to meet them at a later stage…
Uganda Police Force: “Today, at around 10 am, arrangements were made for Hon. Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert to meet with his Lawyers, Katana and Wamenyi at his home in Magere. Also scheduled to meet with him was the NUP Vice President for Central Region, Hon Mathias Mpuuga. Surprisingly, Hon Kyagulanyi refused to meet with them and offered to do so at a later stage. We maintain that access to lawyers is an invaluable right that we respect and continue to observe.”
