South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns are keen to secure the signature of Ugandan goalkeeper Ismail Watenga according to reports.
The 24-year-old custodian has been without a club after leaving Uganda Premier League side Vipers SC. In addition, for a failed move to an Ethiopian top division club.
The highly-rated custodian has now set his focus to joining his compatriot and Cranes skipper Dennis Onyango. In addition, at the Premier Soccer League defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
According to Kawowo Sports, Ismail Watenga will join the former CAF Champions League champions. However, he will be shipped out to another South African side on loan as there are enough quality keepers at the club at the moment.

“The deal is as good as done but he will be loaned out to gain playing time in one of the clubs in South Africa next season,” an anonymous source was quoted saying.
If the deal goes through, Ismail Watenga will be the third Ugandan keeper to grace PSL after celebrated Onyango and Posnent Omwony.
Watenga had steady progress to his career since joining Vipers in 2013 but since leaving the Uganda Premier League giants in 2018, things have not been good for him.
