Wakiso Giants defender Hassan Wasswa Dazo has commended his fellow teammates to aim for better ahead of the 2020/2021 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season.
According to Wasswa, the Purple Sharks lads must pick lessons from their failures last season.
Wakiso Giants finished 10th in their maiden season in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, they collected 31 points from 25 games played.
“It was a tough season and am glad we achieved our dream of staying in the division,” Hassan Wasswa ‘Dazo’ was quoted by the club’s official website.
“But we could have done better and as players, we are not happy with ourselves with the position we attained.”
“The past is beyond us but let’s prepare well, build a strong family, create super character and attitude. We can learn from previous mistakes, solve them and use our strength effectively,” he added.
Wakiso Giants already in preparations for next season
The Purple have already kicked off the preparations for the 2020/2021 season.
According to reports, former SC Villa head coach Douglas Bamweyana is lined up as their next gaffer.
Bamweyana is currently a free agent after getting sacked by Maroons FC earlier this year.
According to Bamweyana, Wakiso Giants’ top hierarchy have already had negotiations with him and he is on verge of signing with them.
“In the negotiations, we have had with the club, I have given them my terms,” Bamweyana disclosed.
“I want full authority over team issues and time to execute my three-year strategic plan. I’m happy that management agreed to that,” he added.
In their maiden season in the top flight, Wakiso Giants were managed by Kefa Kisala, Steven Bengo, Livingstone Mbabazi and Deo Sserwadda.
One of Wakiso Giants’ ultimate targets is to become football giants both in the country and on the continent.
