Vipers SC defender Geoffrey Wasswa claims that he is more than ready to lift the Uganda Premier League title when the season resumes.
According to the defender-cum-midfielder, all Vipers’ players are just waiting for the right time to lift the trophy.
“What I know, as Vipers, we’re ready to lift this trophy. It’s all we are looking for and we are ready,” Wasswa was quoted by Daily Monitor.
The Venoms could be on the course of winning the 2019/2020 title, as they lead the log with 54 points, four ahead of second-placed KCCA FC.
The UPL was suspended when only five matches had remained before the season ended.

Geoffrey Wasswa talked about his long-term injury
Wasswa had to battle a long-term knee injury for the better part of the season and had to undergo surgery to overcome it.
However, his surgery was successful and he came back stronger to his team’s rescue.
“I thank God that I came back strongly and I am able to play my game. It was really a trying moment and I was missing that show on the pitch,”
“It was painful watching my team struggling when I was in the stands. I was working hard so that I come back and give what I can to help my team,” he noted.
Vipers confident that Wasswa will sign a contract extension
Transfer rumors have been circulating all over the country that Wasswa could be on his way to KCCA FC.
However, Vipers SC spokesperson is confident that the utility player will sign a new contract at the Kitende-based club.
“We are positive Geoffrey Wasswa will sign a new contract. Haven’t got the actual details yet but it’s in the pipeline,” Wasike said.
“We can’t lose a versatile player like Wasswa, a player that is deployed in every position on the field of play except goalkeeping.”
“He has proved his worth since getting promoted from the school team,” he noted.
Vipers are targeting their fourth-ever league gong, their last victory came in 2018.
