The former Minister for Security Gen Henry Tumukunde has today been granted bail on conditions set by the court of judiciary.
Tumukunde appeared today before the court via videoconferencing for the ruling on his bail application review.
The applicant and sureties shall each execute bond 50m not cash and applicant shall deposit his passport with the Court.
Gen Henry Tumukunde, the Ugandan presidential candidate was arrested in Kampala on March 12, 2020, and he was charged with treason.
According to the police, Tumukunde was charged with treason for utterances made during a recent television interview in which he appeared to support that Rwanda should intervene in Uganda’s politics.
On 6th May 2020, he came up and complained to the court about solitary confinement at Luzira where he’s on remand on charges of treason & illegal possession of firearms.
The General’s bodyguards were also charged with obstruction & remanded to Kitalya prison.
The applicant shall report to Court once a month as directed by Court.
