Fahad Bayo, Vipers SC and Uganda Cranes striker has revealed that whatever he does on pitch is because of Geofrey Massa’s inspiration.
Bayo has been on fine former since signing for Vipers in summer 2019 which forced Uganda Cranes head coach to recall him on the national team.
Who is Geofrey Massa?
Geofrey Massa was born in Jinja on February 19th 1986, he began his career in 2004 with Police FC in the Ugandan Premier League.
He went on to feature for Al-Masry, El-Shams, Jomo Cosmos, Etisalat, Yenicami Agdelen, University of Pretoria, Bloemfontein Celtic, Baroka and Kucuk Kaymaklı.
The former Cranes skipper scored 22 goals for the national team from 69 appearances making him a figure Bayo would like to emulate.
“I grew up knowing Geoffrey Massa and being as a striker I can’t look at midfielders or defenders,” Fahad Bayo was quoted saying.
“So I have always looked at what Massa used to do and learn from him at the national team.”
“I strongly believe that for the time I will continue playing for the national team, I will do a lot, score as many goals as he did and even score more goals than he scored,” he added.
The lethal striker has already scored 12 goals in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League for Vipers who are on course of winning their fourth title.
“What was happening before the pandemic, wasn’t by chance, I was working so hard, trained a lot and I must say that’s not enough; Am going to continue working hard.”
“My target was scoring 10 goals and I am grateful to Allah that I have scored more than that and I can still add,” Fahad Bayo added.
Who is Fahad Bayo?
Bayo Aziz Fahad was born on May 10th 1998, he is a Ugandan international footballer currently playing for Vipers SC.
He joined Proline FC in 2014 at age 16. He played 25 games and scored 16 goals in the 2015–16 season of the second biggest league in Uganda, the Uganda Big League.
His performance contributed to the promotion of Proline FC to the Uganda Premier League. In the 2016–17 season, he scored six goals for Proline from 18 games.
Bayo played half of the 2017-18 Uganda Premier League season and scored six goals in 14 league games played.
He joined the Zambian club Buildcon FC in January 2018, he scored nine goals and made six assists from 39 games played.
