Vipers SC striker Fahad Bayo claims that he is still a Vipers SC player and dismissed reports linking him with a move away from the club.
The 22-year-old goal scorer joined the Venoms in 2019 from Zambian side Buidlcon and went on to make a good mark as he has scored 12 goals so far.
His strikes were key as Vipers were leading the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table with 54 points when the competition was suspended in March.
Fahad Bayo is now the second striker on the scorers’ chart as Steven Mukwala of Maroons FC is leading with 13 goals.
Due to his good performances, he is now linked with a move to other clubs barely after a short period at the Kitende-based club.
“All those are just unfounded rumours because neither I nor Vipers have been approached by any club,” Fahad Bayo was quoted saying by Football256.
“I just want to keep on working hard, maintaining my form, helping my team win the title but also maintaining my slot as the leading striker for Uganda.”
Bayo’s debut strike for Cranes
Fahad Bayo was given his national team debut against Malawi in the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier at the Mandela National Stadium and he says it remains a good career moment.
Uganda won the game 2-0 courtesy of Emmanuel Okwi and Fahad Bayo’s strikes in both halves of the game.
According to Bayo, he can’t stop thinking about that blissful moment of his life.
“That day was so special.”
“I felt so good because it was my first time to play for the senior national team and scoring was the icing on the cake so it was amazing for me.
“Hopefully I will continue working hard to remain in the team,” he noted.
Vipers is eager to keep Bayo into their books as they intend to compete in big competitions like Caf Champions League.
