After claiming the StarTimes Uganda Premier League title, Vipers SC striker Fahad Bayo claims that his target is to win more accolades in his career.
The Venoms were declared the 2019/2020 StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions on Wednesday May 20th following Fufa’s decision to cancel out the league.
Fahad Bayo’s Vipers finished on top of the 16-team log with 54 points, four ahead of second-placed KCCA FC.
“I am extremely delighted to have won the league title with Vipers, it’s my first time to be a champion at any club,” Fahad Bayo said before adding.
“I congratulate my teammates, coaches Fred Kajoba and Edward Golola upon a successful campaign.”
“This campaign is now done so focus is to continue working hard to reach my goals. Winning the trophy is a great achievement in my career but not the end of the world.”
“I want to win more other things in my career as a footballer,” he added.
Bayo’s future is bright
Bayo joined the four-time Uganda Premier League champions at the beginning of this season from Zambian side Buildcon.
He finished this season with 12 goals in the league just one below Steven Mukwala who scooped the golden boot with 13 goals.
At just 22 years, he is a regular starter at Vipers and already in the Uganda Cranes setup.
He has scored four times for Cranes, once in the 2021 Afcon qualifiers against Malawi, once in the 2020 African Nations Championship qualifiers against Burundi.
Bayo also scored twice in the 2019 CECAFA Cup against Burundi and Tanzania.
Due to his superb performances, he has attracted attention from several big clubs on the continent and some clubs from Europe.
In his debut season at Vipers, he guided them to Pilsner Super 8 and StarTimes Uganda Premier League titles.
