Douglas Bamweyana – My target is to challenge for honors at Wakiso

Former SC Villa and Maroons FC head coach Douglas Bamweyana have been announced as Wakiso FC head coach.

The youthful gaffer has penned a three-year renewable contract with the club and therefore takes over with immediate effect.

Wakiso Giants aims at finishing in top positions in their second season in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, that’s the reason why they brought Douglas Bamweyana.

Bamweyana will be assisted by Richard Wasswa while Ali Kiggundu and Steven Bengo will also stay as part of the coaching staff.

The ambitious young was all but excited after signing a contract with the aspiring club and therefore aims at achieving more with them.

“I’m excited about the project, the quality of the lads and the challenge to build onto the already booming club image,” Douglas Bamweyana was quoted by the club’s official website.

“I and my technical team bring lots of experiences and lessons – coupled with our commitment and determination.”

“Our most ardent target is to help our players develop into the best version of themselves individually and as a group to help foster the club’s objectives.”

“In the long run, we should certainly look to challenge on all fronts for honours within three years.”

“The entire purple family should expect an attractive, creative and daring style of football and lots of good times. But it goes without saying: a great dish takes time to prepare,” he added.

Many expectations from Douglas Bamweyana

After handing him a contract, Wakiso Giants CEO Sula Kamoga said that as a club, they have a lot of expectations from the former Express FC head coach.

“As a club, we are delighted to have Bamweyana as our new head coach,” club CEO Sula Kamoga said before adding.

“He knows our expectations and those of our dear fans and we are optimistic he can play a lead role to take the club to another level,” he added.

Douglas Bamweyana has previously coached at Express FC, SC Villa and Maroons FC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
