Students at Makerere University College of Humanities and Social Sciences – CHUSS have today started an online campaign dubbed #RestoreChussinternet demanding for an immediate restoration of Internet services at the college.

 

 

Students claim Internet services at CHUSS have been off for the last 2 weeks yet more of their classes need internet connection.

 

Furious students at the college have also threatened to boycott the university #Makrun2018 scheduled to take place on Sunday 25, march 2018 demanding to the authorities to first restore services.

 

Students have also protested the Uganda Telecom -UTL 2G Internet services at the University saying the company should be replaced with a better service provider.

 

However, Makerere University authorities and the Directorate for Information and Communications Technology Support – DICTS that is responsible for internet connections at the University have asked students to stay calm as they working with the CHUSS management to have services restored.

As one of the strategies to raise funds for the University, the Makerere University Endowment Fund (MakEF) –was established in 2014. MakEF under its mandate to achieve long term financial sustainability for the University started the MakRun.

The first edition of the MakRun in 2017 was a great start, thanks to contributions from The Right Honourable Speaker and Members of Parliament, Corporate sponsors such as; dfcu Bank.

others  include Centenary Bank, Tullow Oil, NSSF, Coca Cola, NBS Television, BBS Telefayina and the Nation Media Group as well as Gallant Alumni, Staff, Students, well wishers and friends of Makerere University.
