COVID-19: Confirmed Cases Hit 2,679

Uganda has registered 155 new coronavirus infections which brings the total number of cases to 2,679.

The new cases include 101 Alerts, 39 contacts, nine health workers, five truck drivers and a returnnee from UAE.

Of the 140 contacts and alerts, 71 are from the country’s Capital, Kampala, which is the largest COVID-19 hotspot.

Other cases are from, Kikuube-12, Jinja-8, Wakiso-8, Mbarara-6, Mukono-6, Tororo-5, Gulu-4, Kitgum-3, Pader-3, Kisoro-2, Buikwe-2, Luwero-2 while Bundibugyo, Busia, Isingiro, Kapchorwa, Kasese, Kiryandongo, Kyegegwa, and Mbale had one case each.

The nine health workers that tested positive for COVID-19 include; six from Kampala, two from Wakiso and one from Jinja.

The ministry of health has also registered two more COVID-19 deaths which brings the country’s total fatalities to 28.

Additionally, 14 foreign truck drivers were denied entry into the country when they tested positive for COVID-19 among the 1,388 samples that were from the points of entry of the 4,513 samples that were tested.

To date, the country has 1,268 coronavirus recoveries and 28 fatalities of the 2,679 cumulative confirmed cases.
