Coronavirus Update : Uganda Confirms 214 New COVID-19 Cases

The ministry of health has on Friday confirmed 214 new coronavirus cases. Therefore this brings the country’s cumulative confirmed cases to 5,594.

Today’s confirmed cases include 212 contacts and alerts, a truck driver and a returnee


The contacts and Alerts that tested positive for coronavirus were from Pader (58), Kampala (38), Butaleja (36), Lamwo (16), Mbale (12). In addition, Jinja (10), Gulu (8), Arua (7), Kapchorwa(6), Soroti (3), Wakiso (3), Kween (2), Omoro (2), Adjumani (2).

Meanwhile, Alebtong, Amuru, Bukwo, Busia, Dokolo, Masaka, Masindi, and Kikuube recorded one case of COVID-19 each.

The truck driver that tested positive for COVID-19 was from Elegu border point of entry while the returnee was from Rwanda.

The ministry of health has also recorded one COVID-19 fatality from Kampala. The total coronavirus deaths are now 61.

According to the ministry of health, the country’s cumulative coronavirus recoveries are now, 2,544.

Uganda has, therefore, tested 444,346 samples for COVID-19 since the beginning of the outbreak after today’s addition of 2,636 samples.
