News reaching our news confirms former AIGP Asan Kasingye has tested positive for COVID-19. The former AIGP revealed the results in a tweet on Sunday afternoon.
“BAD NEWS!! I AM COVID-19 POSITIVE,” Asan Kasingye posted. He is therefore quarantined at his home waiting for medical workers to take him for treatment.
The ministry of health has today, Sunday, registered 97 new coronavirus cases bringing the total number of cases to 2,263.
Today’s cases are from 90 contacts and alerts, six truck drivers, and a returnee from Mali.
These are from the 1,501 samples from Points of Entry and 2,504 Samples from Contacts and Alerts.
Regarding the contacts and alerts,
59 were from Kampala, 11 were from Wakiso, 6 were from Buikwe, 3 were from Luweero, 3 were from Namisindwa, 2 were Mukono, 2 were from Jinja. The remaining cases are from Kabale, Amuru, Oyam, Tororo.

Additionally, 10 foreign truck drivers tested positive for COVID-19 at the border points of entry and their entry into the country was not permitted
Meanwhile, Uganda has 2,226 COVID-19 recoveries and 20 fatalities.
