Aggrey Ashaba said this when speaking during the consultative meeting held at Fufa house in Mengo on Wednesday, June 10th.

According to Ashaba, it doesn’t give a sense for Fufa to leave out clubs while planning for issues that concern them.

“It is important to include the clubs in planning and lobbying for funding from Government and FIFA because the industry is just developing,” Aggrey Ashaba said.

Communication between Fufa and UPL should be improved

Aggrey Ashaba went on to challenge the federation to bridge the gap between football’s ruling body and Uganda Premier League.

Currently, there are several things that happen at the federation without UPL’s consent yet sometimes they matter the clubs.

“There is a lack of proper communication between FUFA and UPL. We also need to listen to each other more.”

“The inclusion of all stakeholders especially clubs is key in the game.  We must have the data and analysis of previous licensing exercise so that it helps in the future.”

“We also need to get the correct trend of compliance to see whether the shortfalls are in the areas of knowledge, skills, or finance.”
“If the shortfall is in finance, then the FA and clubs work to see how to support clubs,” he added.

2020/2021 UPL season to return in October

It was through the consultative meeting, where Fufa announced that the 2019/2020 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season will start on October 17th.

According to the Federation, the release of the final list of clubs to UPL Secretariat will take place on 14th September 2020

Meanwhile, the release of final fixtures of StarTimes Uganda Premier League by UPL Secretariat will be on 17th September 2020
