98 New Cases As Uganda Sees Highest Daily increase in COVID-19 cases

Uganda has registered 98 new coronavirus virus in the last 24 hours. This is the highest increase in the number of COVID-19 cases after yesterday’s 94 cases.

Today’s cases include 69 contacts, 21 alerts, five truck drivers, and three returnees. These are from the 4,131 samples that were tested.

The five truck drivers that tested positive for COVID-19 were from Kenya while the returnees are from Kenya, DRC, and South Sudan.

Kampala, which is the country’s largest COVID-19 hotspot has also had a spike in the number of coronavirus cases by 75.

The other cases include; six from Luwero, three from Jinja, four from Adjumani, one from Buikwe, Kasese, and Ntoroko.

The five truck drivers that tested positive for COVID-19 were from Kenya while the returnees are from Kenya, DRC, and South Sudan.

Additionally, eleven foreign truck drivers were denied entry into the country when they tested positive for coronavirus. These include seven Kenyans, two Congolese, and two Rwandese.

Meanwhile, the country has cumulative confirmed cases of 1,848 of which 1,199 have recovered. The fatalities are now at 19.

The ministry of health has continued advising the public to practice coronavirus preventive measures such as hand washing, wearing face masks, and maintaining social distance.
