More people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Namisindwa District were the county’s first COVID-19 fatality was registered.
This has made Namisindwa a COVID-19 hotspot as contacts of the first fatality and more alerts from the district test positive.
The ministry of health has today 11-August confirmed 8 cases from the district who were alerts of the 12 alerts that tested positive for coronavirus among the 16 new cases.
Three of the remaining 4 alerts were from Tororo District while another alert that tested positive was from Kampala Metropolitan Area.
Two contacts of previously confirmed cases from Adjumani District tested positive for COVID-19.
A Uganda truck driver who arrived from South Sudan through Elegu border point and a returnee from Kenya who was under institutional quarantine by the time of the test were also confirmed positive.
In addition to the confirmed cases, 11 other Kenyan truck drivers were not allowed to proceed to the country after testing COVID-19 positive among the 2,250 samples that were tested today.
The country has registered 1,313 cases of COVID-19 as it exceeds the 300,000 marks of tests run since the country started running coronavirus samples.
Uganda’s total recoveries now stand at 1,138 and 9 have succumbed to the virus within one month after the country recording it’s th first fatality in late July.
