Manchester United secured a 3-1 victory against Arsenal in the fourth round of the FA Cup after goals from Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial. This serious win set injuries accusations from the Arsenal boss Unai Emery as the major cause of the loss to the Red Devils.  Unai claims that he would at least take up a draw by the time the game got to 2-1.

“I think we worked well. Our injuries changed our possibility to do something different. When we were 2-1 down we had chances to draw but we didn’t score. Emery said to BBC Sport:

As Emery consoles himself for the defeat by Solskjaer’s boys, Man United’s manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is busy jubilating and commenting how he ordered his boys to attack the Gunners basing on United’s history of Counter-attacking. “Counter-attacking is classic Manchester United – Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ji Sung-park – we’ve scored so many at Arsenal over the years.” He said while speaking to BBC Sport.

Here is his full statement;

“It’s fantastic to go through in the cup. It’s one of the hardest games you can get.

“I’ve had a [selection] headache since I came because the squad is full of good players. It’s up to us to pick the right tactics and players. We need to rest a few as there’s big games coming up. But we have fresh legs.

“Today we looked more like a proper team. We looked more structured. We’d worked hard at defending and counter-attacking. Counter-attacking is classic Manchester United – Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ji Sung-park – we’ve scored so many at Arsenal over the years.

“Today was a big step forward. It was a massive improvement from the Tottenham game. It’s easy to get excited and talk about the future but we need to just keep working and think about the next game.

“We had to dig deep. The attitude and work-rate was important. Towards the end it was comfortable but not during the 90 minutes.”

Solskjaer added, according to the Manchester Evening News, making this managerial lark looks a piece of cake… When you have good players it’s difficult to leave them out easy to put them in, just as easy it was to put Sergio in and Eric but it’s hard to leave people out, David do you keep him in because it’s a big game but you need to trust players that are at the club.

Great finish from Alexis…

Fantastic finish great pass by Rom, I said just before Rom should be in the box and then he makes that pass, goal no 2 and no 3 goal classic United counter defend properly and we had to today we had to dig in and had much better structure than against Tottenham and the defending was resilient and the attitude to run forward is fantastic.

Game plan…

Of course that’s part of it, if you go through the history and the games we played through Arsenal I remembered even I scored on a counter

The counter attack we have is in our history.

Luke Shaw…

He’s fantastic, the second goal instead of panicking and clearing it he set up Lukaku and he did brillian. It would be nice to get a home draw but today we beat one of the faves if you want to win you need one or two proper performance and today was one of those.

The fans…

Should have been more of them too because of the allocation but the fans were fantastic and towards the end you could only here them so they can enjoy the trip back to Manchester.

Emery in his statement believes that Arsenal played Man United in a good moment. “We lost this match but I’m happy with our work. The supporters helped us.

We need to think about the Premier League. We won against Chelsea and are close. We need to push in that competition and we have another important competition in the Europa League.”

Arsenal won Chelsea 2:0 in Premier League last week keeping them in the 5th position on the table with 44 points leaving their competitor in 6th position who defeated them in FA yesterday night.
