According to the ministry of health, results from COVID-19 tests done on 2 October 2020 confirm 171 new cases.
Of the confirmed cases, 54 returnees tested positive for coronavirus. These include 48 from Jordan, five from Oman and one from UAE.
At least 117 contacts and alerts from Masaka (43), Kampala (28), Jinja (10), Kole (12), Bukwo (10), Lira (3), Apac (2), Kisoro (2), Mukono (1), Namisindwa (1), Tororo (3), Wakiso (1) and Busia (1) tested COVID-19 positive.
This brings the country’s cumulative coronavirus confirmed cases to 8,662.
Meanwhile, Uganda has registered 4,546 recoveries and 79 coronavirus fatalities. In addition, since the country confirmed it’s first case in March.

With the increasing number of infections, the ministry of health has continued to urge the public to maintain the COVID-19 control measures and standard operating procedures.
Globally, at least 34,867,316 coronavirus cases have been confirmed. Of these, not less than 25,920,375 have recovered while over one million have succumbed to the virus.
