The lanky striker joined Vipers Vipers at the beginning of the 2019/2020 season from Raja Casablanca but injury had ruled him out since then.
After such a long spell out, Shaban couldn’t have hoped for a better afternoon on Saturday, however he topped a special afternoon with a 7th minute goal.
“It was a good workout,” Shaban was quoted by Vipers SC official website before adding.
“I’m happy to make my debut and score my first goal for the club but a lot of work to do and we focus on an important reaction next game.”
“It made me stronger, but I still have a long way to go. To score on my debut made me happy of course and I think it will help with the confidence,” he added.
However, the 22-year-old goal scorer had hoped for a win but unfortunately, his side settled for a draw on Saturday which disappointed him.
“Obviously, am disgusted it was a disappointing result for us because we wanted maximum points.”
“But it was good to get 90 minutes into the legs, because l have not done that for quite some time,” he noted.
Shaban suffered a knee injury while still with Morocco’s side Raja Casablanca training with the first team in pre-season in April last year.
Since then, he haven’t played competitive football until Saturday December 12th in Vipers’ colors.
Shaban is expected to help Vipers retain the StarTimes Uganda Premier League if he regain his known form.
He is one of the best strikers of his generation in Ugandan football although he has issues with his attitude and discipline off the pitch.
