Mpaka Records CEO and Musician Tugume Wycliffe alias Ykee Benda has announced his resignation as President of the Uganda Musician Association (UMA). This followed after serving for about six months as president of the new association. Ykee Benda was sworn in to lead the organization in September with Songstress Cindy Sanyu as Vice president. The singer has been facing a lot of criticisms from various people thus failing to withstand the pressure from the critics… Therefore he has decided to throw away the towel and focus on his career and his family…
“I will be stepping down soon as President of UMA as I will communicate through my PR. After 3 months of deep thought and advise from the people I trust. They need someone else,” Ykee Benda
Before the singer announced his resignation, he had promised to ensure that there is unity among the artists… In addition, The UMA president also clarified the money that was to be given to the association…
“I want to officially tell you that as it stands we are still waiting for the official communication, therefore when the time comes the media shall aid in this activity. We want to appeal to the president and the task force that we are in a very bad state financially, therefore we are sending out a voice today so that Ugandan musicians get back on stage.
However, considering whatever is going on around the country, people need entertainment. We as musicians want to entertain the people like you for votes out there,,, Therefore I am pleading to the president to allow us to have a meeting and have artists back on stage without violating the SOP’s. Therefore that is the most important remark of the day concerning musicians in this country,” Tugume Ykee Benda said.
