Ssentongo, Kikomeko scoops UPL February gongs during the Pilsner awards 2020. Trouper striker Robert Ssentongo has been named as the Uganda Premier League (UPL) Pilsner’s best player of the month of February.
The Kyetume FC striker was crowned on Monday 16th at a ceremony held at Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo.
Ssentongo has been very vital for Kyetume FC in their pursuit to remain in the league during the month of February.
His fantastic form saw him scoring six goals, registering four assists and grabbing two man of the match accolades.
To win the Pilsner awards accolade, Ssentongo beat off competition from teammate Joel Mutakubwa and Busoga United FC playmaker David Bagoole.
“I am extremely happy to be here at the Pilsner awards. Also, I am named the best player of in February, I expected to be named the best because of my performances last month,” Ssentongo said before adding.
“I still have hope that I will catch the players ahead of me in terms of scoring goals because I was born to score and I will continue banging in the goals until the end of the season,” he added.
On the same event, Busoga United FC head coach Abel Kikomeko was named the best coach of the month of February.
To win this gong, Kikomeko saw off competition from SC Villa’s Edward Kaziba.
He led Busoga United to four victories, one draw and a loss in the six games played by Busoga United.
