Uganda’s famous artist Pius Mayanja alias Pallaso commonly known as King of the East has escaped from police. According to the singer, he says police went to pick him up from his place of residence and told him that he was under arrest. However, the singer insisted that the police didn’t have any arrest warrant with them thus resisting arrest.
“My friends, I was seated at home eating food with my manager Karma Ivien discussing our new project. In addition, then the police came and kicked my gate and got inside… However, I am not sure whether the issue is political or not but I asked them why they wanted to arrest me…
They told us that it was past quarantine time therefore I don’t know whether its a crime to be home… Also, they beat me up and even put handcuffs on me as they were taking me. They stepped on my neck and I couldn’t breathe, It’s unbelievable that we just see these things happening in other countries,” Pallaso said.
It’s a pity to see a fellow black person, in fact, Officer Mutume, Luwaf road, was the in charge… I am so tired and sick of not doing my job, therefore I request President Museveni to have a listening ear and help us get back to work… If I was guilty then it’s okay but I doubt if that’s the way the police must handle suspects. For sure, I have done nothing therefore I have no idea why a police officer who is paid 300K per month wanted to kill me… In conclusion, I am so heartbroken to see a fellow Ugandan mistreat a fellow Ugandan…,” Pallaso added.
