Orit, Byaruhanga receives maiden Cranes call-up

Vipers SC duo Ibrahim Orit and midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga have received maiden Uganda Cranes call-ups.

This is after Uganda Cranes assistant coaches Abdallah Mubiru and Livingstone Mbabazi have named a 31-man squad.

The team is preparing for the two upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Mubiru and Mbabazi have been tasked with the job of naming the squad.

This is after head coach Johnathan Mckinstry was asked to step aside by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations.

The duo has named a squad that comprises of four goalkeepers, 10 defenders, 11 midfielders and six forwards.

Other new faces to make the squad include Kizito Mugweri Gavin who is the skipper of the Uganda U20 national team.

Yunus Ssentamu, who has had a sensational Vipers return has also made a return to the national team.

He will have to fight against his foreign-based compatriots if he has to secure playtime being the only local-based striker summoned.

The Cranes are second with seven points in Group B and will take on Burkina Faso on March 24 at home.

They will complete the qualifiers with a game against Malawi.
