Mukasa Mbidde arrested in Masaka

DP’s Fred Mukasa Mbidde is a Ugandan lawyer, human-rights activist, mass communication specialist, motivational speaker and politician has been arrested in Masaka Town for allegedly inciting violence.

Mukasa has been arrested in Masaka City for allegedly inciting violence as riots broke out in some parts of the country, following the arrest of presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi on Wednesday.

His arrest follows the continued protesting of the NUP supporters over the arrest of their Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi on Wednesday from Luuka District where he had staged a political rally

The city has been deserted as police fired bullets and tear gas to disperse protestors who were trying to ‘rekindle’ yesterday’s incident.

Robert Kyagulanyi denied to sign the police bail yesterday that was meant to make him free on the cells and he has since been inside the police cells in Nalufenya police toucher centre in Jinja district.

Since his arrest, non of his people has been allowed access to him neither his over 10 years.

Many people have since been arrested, killed and other severely injured.

Mukasa’s arrest follows that of the Kawempe South Aspiring Member of Parliament, Ssegirinya Mohamed popularly known as Mr. Update today morning in Nalufenya Jinja.

Mukasa is an elected member of the 3rd East African Legislative Assembly, representing the Republic of Uganda. He has been in this office since June 2012.
