The £53m summer signing was stretchered off the pitch on his Champions League debut for the Reds against Napoli on Wednesday night
Liverpool have calmed fears over the fitness of Naby Keita, insisting the midfielder is ‘fine’ after being taken to hospital with severe back pain.
The £53million summer signing was stretchered off the field just 19 minutes into his Champions League debut for the Reds against Napoli on Wednesday night.
The Premier League club later confirmed Keita was taken straight to hospital as a precaution, where he underwent a number of medical checks.
Liverpool stayed overnight in Naples following their late 1-0 defeat, and the club were expected to assess Keita’s condition again on Thursday morning being flying home.
And the club have now issued an update, with a Liverpool source telling Sky Sports News the midfielder is ‘fine’.
The report also claimed Liverpool are refusing to rule the midfielder out of of Sunday’s top-of-the-table clash against Manchester City.
