The Kyambogo University Tribunal has dismissed the guild election petition No. 001 of 2019 arising from the guild election that was held on the 14th of March this very year.
It is noted that the petitioner Atto Sebbi Juma, the former guild presidential Candidate was dissatisfied with the results in which people power affiliated candidate won.
However, the Tribunal dismissed the petition citing lack of evidence by the petitioner to back up his case against the electoral commission.
“In the wisdom of the Tribunal, this petition is untenable since the petitioner was required to support his submissions with evidence, ” the Tribunal notes in its ruling.
The Tribunal further added that it could have gone out of its way to infer from the practice of the previous guild election, adding that it was constrained to do so on ground that the parties failed to adduce evidence to support their submissions.
“We hereby dismiss the petition and with on a award on cost,” the Tribunal ruled.
The petition was legally brought under article 9(8)d of the Kyambogo University Student’s Guild constitution as amended in 2017.
