Kyambogo University will reopen for the final year students on 17th October 2020 while teaching at the university will start on 19th October 2020.
The teaching will be for four weeks and exams for two weeks starting on 16th October, 2020.
This follows the the president Yoweri Museveni’s move to reopen schools for candidates and finalists during his 20th COVID-19 address.
While addressing media at the University premises, the university Vice Chancellor Prof. Elly Katunguka said about 75% of teaching, which includes lecturing, giving assignments and coursework, had been completed before the temporary closure of education institutions on Friday, 20th March 2020.

“The remaining 25% will be completed within a period of four weeks,” he added.
The students will be required to report with face masks and sanitizers.
“All students’ property will be disinfected before accessing halls of residence and at all halls of residence there will be hand washing facilities,” he said.
The university management has also negotiated with hostel owners and agreed that the hostel fees which the students had paid for Semester II 2019/ 2020 will be carried forward to cater for this period to enable the students complete their studies, according to Katunguka.
Speaking on the university sports activities, Katunguka said: “There won’t be team sports during this session but individual physical exercises for fitness purposes will be allowed but recognizing recommended social distancing practices,”
