AFCON U20: Uganda is the surprise package – Byekwaso

Uganda U20 national team head coach Morley Byekwaso has warned that his side can be the AFCON U20 dark horses.

Acoording to Byekwaso, the CECAFA region champions can go all the way to stand on the highest point of the podium.

Uganda continued with their dream run in their debut at the AFCON U20.

They progressed to the semi-finals after a 5-3 victory over Burkina Faso.

“Every tournament has a surprise team and who knows maybe we are the surprise team for this tournament.

As Ugandans, we are happy to qualify for the semi finals.

We came in as underdogs and no one expected us to perform like this because this is our first tournament.”

“For us, it was all about a dream to come here and play with some of the superpowers in African football.”

But we had our strategy and we knew how to play.”

“We trust in ourselves and we have that belief that we can make it,” Morley Byekwaso said.

Ugandans will take on Tunisia in the semi-finals encounter on Monday night.
